From Rebellion:
Quo vadis?from feed/http://lsrebellion.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default by Old RebelFederal goons are kicking in the doors of anti-war protesters. Obama claims his assassination program is a "state secret." And the Pentagon is burning books in the name of "national security."
What's going on? Justin Raimondo argues the empire senses its impending collapse:
The ruling elite has never been more nervous, because their rule has never been more brittle: the economic collapse foreshadows a political collapse that can only be prevented by a crackdown and general tightening of the rules of the American “democratic” system. They’re making up these new rules as they go along, and the process is still ongoing, but of one thing we can be certain: the Constitution is a dead letter. It no longer exists except as a document kept under glass, venerated but never obeyed.
This isn't a liberal-versus-conservative issue; we're all in peril here. The truth is, it is we, the people, who are aiding and abetting the spread of tyranny. While pro-war conservatives cheer on the intimidation of anti-war activists, the SPLC convinces law enforcement personnel that proponents of small government are the real terror threat. But neither side asks itself another famous Latin question: Cui bono? Who profits when the government deprives a segment of the population of its rights?
We are surrendering our civil liberties in the foolish belief that the government is sticking it to the enemy, blind to the fact that it is the Federal government that is the greatest threat to our liberty.
