*Two police officers were shot and killed a U.S. Marshal was wounded in St. Petersburg, Florida on Monday.
*The shooting in St. Petersburg occurred on the day of the funeral in Miami of two Miami-Dade County police officers who were shot and killed by a fugitive murder suspect last week. The fugitive was also killed.
*4 Detroit police officers shot, gunman dead in ‘horrifying’ attack
*Suspect Sought in Shooting of Oregon Police Officer
*An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer remained in critical condition this morning recovering from four gunshots wounds suffered during a traffic stop Sunday.
*Two people died and two Kitsap County sheriff’s deputies were wounded Sunday after a shootout in a Walmart parking lot in Port Orchard WA on Sunday.
In 2010, the number of federal and local officers killed in the line of duty rose to 160 from 117 the year before. Fifty-nine officers were fatally shot in 2010, up from 49 killed in 2009.
The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund honors federal, state and local law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the safety and protection of our nation and its people.
